WHICH SERVICE DO YOU NEED?

Test coupons are precision machined and can be tested in accordance with AWS, ASME, ABS, MIL-STD-248 , DNV, API, ISO and other applicable Welding codes.

TENSILE TESTING

We can perform tensile tests in most shapes and sizes.  Our standard shape is a rectangular or round reduced section.  All tensiles are run in accordance with ASTM A370.

We provide data with Ultimate, Yield, Reduction of area & Elongation.

CHARPY IMPACT TESTS

Charpy impact tests are used to obtain a relative estimate of notch resistance.  The test uses a notched coupon with the notch at different locations in the BASE + HAZ + WELD.  The other variable is temperature.

Tests are standard from ROOM temp down to -325 degree F.  Charpy numbers will be from 0 to 200 ft-lbs or higher.

BEND TESTS for PQR or Welders.

Our bend tests are tailored to your PQR material type and ductility.

Our welder test bends are matched to your PQR with a welder certification which shows the results including a high resolution photo record.

WELD METALLURGY

Our metallurgy is standard shop MACRO & MICRO preparation.

We use simple NITAL etchant for all steels.  We use ELECTROLYTIC etch in acid bath for all other alloys.

We combine our hardness data and microphoto work on one sample.

HARDNESS of your Basemetal, HAZ or Weld

Welding tests with hardness survey data can be very useful for evaluation of weld metallurgy.  The critical zones in a weld joint will be at the fusion line and into the (HAZ) heat affected zone.  You will be able to evaluate joint strength from hardness.

FAILURE ANALYSIS

We see many weld failures on a broad range from castings to structural..

We also see many different failures on welds.  Our reports are designed to provide a permanent record of the failure and the cause or causes.

We will provide corrective action at the request of the Principal Engineer.
